Harry Hartog's review
A funny and thoughtful novel about growing up, making friends, doing all the wrong things with the right kinds of people, and falling in love with the people we we’d better off not. If you know anything about Caroline O’Donoghue, you’ll know that she is a great defender of the rom-com and sees it as an undervalued genre, that is so much more than just boy meets girls. This book in very much in support of that argument. It’s messy, true to human foibles and retrospective on youth without being judgemental. I’m sure people will hate me for saying this, but it was like reading Sally Rooney if she was a better writer and had a sense of humour. Also check out her podcast, if you like this book, I promise you’ll want to read every book every guest mentions! - Emily, Gift & Lifestyle Buyer
