Lucashenko once again delivers a novel that crackles with humour and warmth, without shying away from confronting events. Edenglassie takes us back to a time when the Indigenous folks still outnumbered the white colonisers in Brisbane. Past and present collide in unexpected ways, and the story overall has a cyclical feeling - time is slippery in a way not allowed by the colonisers’ calendar.
