Harry Hartog's review

This book is pleasantly quirky and enjoyably weird, and I loved it! Our leading lady Keiko doesn't quite think the same way as you and I might, and doesn't see anything wrong with working as a part-timer in a convenience store for 18 years - in fact, she quite enjoys the social mask it allows her to put on. 36, unwed & without a respectable source of income... this is a problem according to everyone but Keiko, and her struggle against the expectations of others was a delight to read. An immeasurably well-written & unique look into the harsh socio-cultural dynamics dictating how to be a woman in modern Japan, this book can be enjoyed in one day :) - Molly, Bookseller

Meet Keiko.

Keiko is 36 years old. She's never had a boyfriend, and she's been working in the same supermarket for eighteen years.

Keiko's family wishes she'd get a proper job. Her friends wonder why she won't get married.

But Keiko knows what makes her happy, and she's not going to let anyone come between her and her convenience store...
